John Kanan is a Senior Partner and focuses his time in the Technology and Telecommunications industries. He is also a leader in Bain’s Commercial Excellence practice.

John works with CEOs and senior management teams on strategy development, M&A,  salesforce and commercial transformation, and organizational effectiveness, with a particular focus on topline growth.

During his tenure at Bain, John has held several office leadership roles, most recently leading PhD/MBA consulting recruiting efforts. He also has worked in the firm's Sydney office and has led Bain teams in the Americas, Europe, and Asia.

Outside of the firm,  John teams closely with Endeavor Atlanta as a mentor to management teams of start-ups in the software and A.I. space.

John holds an MBA from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia and a BA in philosophy and history from the University of California, Los Angeles. He graduated magna cum laude and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
